Today was a bad day to be a Bears’ fan. Actually, a really bad day. For starters, the Bears decided not to show up in Cincinnati today, and lost 45-10. Secondly, former Bears running back Cedric Benson clearly got the last laugh in this one, as he rushed for 189 yards and a touchdown. And lastly, the Bears can no longer be considered a Super Bowl team.

So, now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s take a look back at this lopsided affair.

WHY THE BEARS LOST

Hell, take your pick. There’s plenty of places you can point the blame in this game. The defense gave the Titans’ defense from last week a run for their money. Jay Cutler threw for three interceptions, and the offense could never get anything going. Matt Forte was once again a complete non-factor. The secondary made Carson Palmer look like Joe Montana. And the list goes on and on.

BRIGHT SPOTS

Devin Hester had eight catches for 108 yards and a touchdown.

If you could find anything more than that, please email me or leave a comment below. Because I’d love to add more to this section, but I simply saw nothing positive.

AREAS OF CONCERN

In an effort to keep this under 1,000 words, I’ll try to keep this as short as possible. We’ve already hit on the basics in the section above, but there’s a lot of problems on this team. The offensive line is terrible right now. It’s not that their giving up sacks, it’s that they make stupid penalties in key situations. Though Cutler only got sacked once today, the line play has got to get better.

But now to the main problem today, and that was the defense. Chad Ochocinco spent all week calling out the Bears’ secondary and begging Cutler to tell Lovie Smith to put Charles Tillman on him. Well they did, and they failed. Ochocinco had ten catches for 118 yards and two scores. He made the secondary look pathetic, and Palmer did whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted to do it. Oh, and it was good to see that the Bears got a whopping total of 0 sacks.

I usually refrain from bashing Cutler, and I’m not completely going to do that here. He’s gotta stop making bad throws, but when you’re team is down 31-3 at the half, you’re probably gonna start forcing things. Cutler was far from the reason why this team lost today, but the entire offense has to get in sync sooner or later. If not, this team is in trouble.

And the list goes on and on.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Devin Hester

Just for the record, the player of the game will always be from the Bears’ perspective, because if it weren’t there’s about five other candidates from the Bengals that would easily get this award. But Hester had a solid game, despite fumbling once. So he’s your player of the game.

You can probably go ahead and expect some more rants coming in the next few days, as the Bears have been sent into panic mode after this game. There’s a lot of problems they better fix, or they are going to gradually find themselves out of the playoff picture.
