It’s report card day here on BlitzNation, and the Dallas Cowboys are coming off of what is probably their most impressive victory of the season, as they knocked off the Atlanta Falcons 37-21 on Sunday.

So good grades are bound to be all over the place this week, so let’s get right to it.

PASS OFFENSE

Grade: A+

It wasn’t perfect, but I have no choice but to give it an A+ for the week. The passing offense just seemed more in sync than it has been for quite sometime. Tony Romo had an outstanding game, going 21 for 29 for 311 yards. He threw three touchdowns and zero interceptions, which is always a plus when we’re talking about Romo. And Miles Austin was the hero yet again, as he had 171 yards on just six catches, and scored multiple touchdowns for the second straight game. When the pass offense looks like this, they’re dangerous.

RUSH OFFENSE

Grade: B-

Not much going on the ground this week for Dallas, but it was still a solid performance overall by the two backs. Yes, those two backs being Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Where’s Tashard Choice, you might ask? And my answer is that I have absolutely no idea. Jerry Jones said Choice would get an even bigger role in this offense even with the return of Barber, yet Sunday was the first time in his career that he didn’t have a carry. For a guy that has really been the most solid of the three backs this season, that’s got to be a little confusing. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.

PASS DEFENSE

Grade: B+

You probably know by now that I hate to give the secondary a whole lot of credit for fear of them coming out the next week and looking horrendous, but I was pleased with their performance against Atlanta. There were a few big plays that they gave up, but aside from that, they looked pretty good overall. Mike Jenkins and Orlando Scandrick picked up interceptions on the day, and it was certainly an improvement from what we’ve seen for most of the season from this defensive backfield.

RUSH DEFENSE

Grade: B

The defense did a good job of holding Michael Turner in check for most of the game, and didn’t allow him to carry for any longer than a 15 yard run. However, they did let Jason Snelling break off a 31-yard run, and rack up 68 yards on just seven carries. All in all though, containing Turner was the key, so they succeeded in that department.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Grade: A

Several good things in the special teams area this week, as Nick Folk was perfect, going 3 for 3 on field goals, and Patrick Crayton had a nice long punt return on the day.

OVERALL GRADE: A-

I think you’ve gotta be impressed with the way the Cowboys controlled this game for the most part. It was certainly a change from what we saw in Kansas City a few weeks ago, as the Cowboys had to struggle for everything they got there.

The fact of the matter is, when Romo is playing well, this team will have success. It’s not a hard concept to figure out. And now that the Cowboys have an emerging wide receiver in Austin, they’re gonna cause some problems for defensive secondaries.
