The GM position for the Cleveland Browns has been vacant for about a week now. It is reported that Randy Lerner has a short list of potential replacements with Ex-Head Coach of the Green Bay Packers/Seattle Seahawks Mike Holmgren topping the list.
Holmgren seems to be looking to get back into football but might be looking for a head coaching position instead. The Browns do offer a huge opportunity for whoever comes in to create a powerhouse out of nothing.
The others candidates include the old Packers GM Ron Wolf, the old New York Giants GM Ernie Accorsi, and Atlanta Falcons president Rich McKay.
This might be a big step for the struggling Browns, arguably the worst team in the NFL right now.
Regardless of who comes in, might mean the end to the Mangini regime in Cleveland, as the power to fire or keep the head coach would surely lay with the new GM.
If Randy Lerner wants to keep homage to his late father, Al Lerner, by trying to make the Browns a success, perhaps his best move would be to sell the team to a more competent owner. I don’t think that Randy is lacking the desire to win but simply does not have the know-how. Could I do better? Maybe, maybe not. I also don’t create modern art but can tell you when something is crap. And the Browns’ season this year is crap. Sugar coating it still leaves it crap-filled.
We shall wait and see what Lerner will do.

I have even heard talks of bringing Ron Wolf as GM and Mike Holmgren as head coach. That would be interesting…
Now that would be interesting. I mean, Holmgren has had the success in the past. I guess it would just be a matter of whether he wanted to coach again or not. And I would say that he probably does.

Current: Coming Soon!
This would be a great move. Of course, I guess it has to get better, because it certainly can’t get any worse than it is right now.
