In 2008 the Cleveland Browns were featured in two Monday Night Football appearances. In October they shocked the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants with a 35-14 victory that sent Giants fans off of the deep end. However, in their second appearance in December facing the Philadelphia Eagles, they lost 30-10. Ironically these two Monday night games told the most accurate story of the Browns. Here one day and completely gone the next.

In 2008 when beating the Giants they fielded a team that included, former Browns receiver Braylon Edwards, former Browns tight end Kellen Winslow, Jr., receiver Donte Stallworth among other players that are either hurt or no longer with the team. Running back Jamal Lewis has mentally “retired” and quarterbacks Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn aren’t allowed to play long enough to establish chemistry with any of the virtually invisible wide receivers on the team.

They enter into tonight’s game at 1-7, having only beaten the equally pathetic Buffalo Bills, facing a 4-4 Baltimore Ravens team searching for an identity of it’s own, but not likely to drop a game to their lowly division rivals. The Browns have no leadership at any position and head coach Eric Mangini’s hiring is still a mystery to everyone except the Cleveland Browns’. But like my partner in crime Michael always says “Any Given Monday” as the Browns could come out as their October 2008 selves and hand the Ravens another devastating loss or like their evil twin the December 2008 Browns and drop one by 20 or more points to a hungry Ravens team.

This is quite a matchup of Monday Night teams and I’m not sure how entertaining things will be on the television. But we’ll be sure to keep everyone entertained during our live blog here at BlitzNation.

Game starts at 8:30. Live blog begins at kickoff.

8:30 EST: How in the world do they show a bloopers reel before the game? C’mon man Jaws! LOL! The Browns are so terrible there aren’t any highlights just bloopers. SMH

8:37 EST: Wow was that a 3 and out for the Browns defense? Hmmmm…

8:47 EST: Jamal Lewis running with some authority early.

8:48 EST: John Harbaugh with his best Mike McCarthy impersonation on that lost challenge (per Michael)

8:52 EST: Well there’s the Browns we all know and love. Ravens defense forces the punt.

8:57 EST: Flacco stood there and just took the sack. You’ve got to better mobility than that kid! Sheesh! That’s 2 for Cleveland already.

9:02 EST: Great run by Ray Rice.

9:05 EST: The Ravens need to run the ball. Run Run Run! Tire out this 32nd ranked defense.

9:07 EST: WOW Hauschka WOW!

9:12 EST: Good sack by Trevor Price. On a 3 man rush.

9:17 EST: I really can’t believe that the Ravens are struggling like this against the Browns.

9:30 EST: Great catch by Heap! WOW!

9:32 EST: This game is so terrible, I’m finding it hard to focus.

9:53 EST: Joe Flacco made a heck of a play to keep this drive alive.

9:55 EST: Just for updates purposes the score is: Ravens 0 - Browns 0

END OF WHAT I BELIEVE WAS A FIRST HALF OF FOOTBALL - IT WAS 30 MINUTES OF SOMETHING.

Ravens have got to be kidding me right now. It’s the Browns we’re talking about here.

10:21 EST: FINALLY TD Ravens! Ravens 7 - Browns 0

10:28 EST: Interception returned for a TD for the Ravens by Landry.

10:29 EST: You know Hauschka really isn’t too concerned about job security I see. At least make the extra points kid. WOW!

10:32 EST: They did not have to air Derek Anderson’s QB rating of 3.1 in the 4th quarter. NOT COOL!

10:41 EST: Hey Hauschka made the kick. Ravens 16 - Browns 0

10:45 EST: And the boos begin in Cleveland. Because they’re so used to better play from their team, this they can’t stand for. *khai shrug*

10:51 EST: Ray Lewis didn’t even really touch Quinn on that sack. This dude basically fell down. Get down or lay down I guess.

10:53 EST: Put ya fours up! Man I’m bored. Almost there lady and gents. 4th quarter set to start,

Well crew we tried and it was fun until we all crashed and burned from the terribleness of it all!

Yuck Ravens...pew!  But congrats fans for the win.

Should have Brady Quinn wasnt going to complete that long pass, he’s Brady Quinn.

Jaworski: “Were going to see some offense next week, ALRIGHT!!!”

This has to be dumbest the game in Monday Night game ever. They saved this for prime time, SMH.

I just want it to be over! This is painful!

I agree, I’m sick of seeing ESPN remind us of Jon Gruden and Ron Jaworski’s awful careers.

Reggie Hodges is my fantasy punter lol

Did I see a Phil Collins reference in here?

That’s when you know things have gotten out of hand. If I started singing Phil Collins, chances are, the football game is complete junk.

ESPN obviously agrees, as we’ve seen numerous Jaws-Gruden bloopers in the past few minutes.

Yeah Kyle, at least Jordan and James are more exciting than what we Earthlings call a game.

Come on Browns, you can do it, you can score. You don’t suck that bad, do you?

Ok, in order to stay in my fantasy matchup this week, I’m gonna need the Browns to put up 40 in this quarter. I can feel it.....coming in the air tonight.......

Bwahahahahahahha!  Good one.

Let’s show Michael Jordan and LeBron James highlights...I guess this is Monday Night Basketball.

Everybody put ya fours up. Fourth quarter has officially begun!

Ok I’m officially delirious...smh!

Ok we all know that both Quinn and Anderson just aren’t good. So I just checked out the depth chart, and I think they should throw in Brett Ratliff. Here’s his stats:

Passing Yards: 0
Touchdowns: 0
Pass Attempts: 0

That’s right, he’s never played a game. So why not throw him in now, let’s see what he’s got. Nothing to lose.

Time to bring in 3.1 baby! Game time!

MichaelRobinson - 11/17/09 3:48 am

I wonder if the Browns ownership are going to pull a Bud Adams tonight.

YES!  Bwahahahahha he should pull one on his head coach.  Flip Mangini off real good!

The Browns faithful seem very unhappy with their play this evening, LOL.

Yeah since they’re so used to their team “lighting” it up. LOL!

Josh Cribbs is playing a better QB than Brady Quinn. At least he gaining yards.

Hauschka just got an upgrade on his flight back to Massachusetts from coach to business class with that kick.  Well done kid!

Yes Kyle, time to bring Derek Anderson.

Although that 3.1 QB rating in the 4th quarter might slow down their decision.

At this point, it really doesn’t matter.
