Well the season has been flying bye, and Thanksgiving is upon us. For us NFL fans, we cannot wait to stuff turkey in our face, and while doing so, check out a day filled of NFL games. Some people are disgruntled about the fact that the Raiders and Lions will be headlined on Thanksgiving, but I can care less, football on Thanksgiving is good enough for me, no matter who is playing. With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, I have decided to list a few things that I am thankful for in the NFL this season.

The Five Things I Am Thankful For

5. Witnessing The Rebirth Of Brett Favre
Who would have guessed that the former Green Bay Packer would be putting up MVP type stats, and leading his team to a 9-1 record. After his lackluster performance towards the end of last season with the New York Jets, it appeared that Brett Favre was finally over the hill. But that’s not the case anymore. Favre has been one of the most efficient Quarterback’s this season, all while doing so with a very young group of Wide Receivers. The Vikings grew accustomed to handing the rock of to Adrian Peterson before Favre’s arrival, but their offensive scheme has changed drastically, and now Favre is leading one of the better aerial attacks in the NFL.

4. Every NFL Team Has A Win
Well this may sound lame, but it’s true. Last year, we witnessed the Detroit Lions go 0-16, something that was unimaginable before. Their will be no winless team this season, though there may be more bad teams this year then in previous years. Despite their being no winless teams, there are a heck of a lot of 1 win teams (Browns, Rams, Bucs) and a 2 win team (Lions).

3. Divisional Races
The AFC North and AFC West race both appear to be a battle the rest of the way. The Ravens still have two games against the Steelers, and if any of those two teams can sweep the two games, the AFC North could come down to Week 17. The Chargers are doing what they always do: making a late surge, while the Broncos are collapsing. The NFC is lacking any divisional races, besides the always competitive NFC East. The Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants are all trying to finish atop the division, and it appears that two of these teams will make the playoffs, which means that none of these teams want to be the odd man out. I can’t wait to see how all the races begin to heat up, and ultimately who finishes #1 in the races.

2. The Quest To Go Undefeated
There are two teams that stand 10-0 (Colts and Saints), and both of these teams have a good shot to finish the regular season undefeated. The Saints have a tough matchup this Monday against the New England Patriots, but the rest of the way should be easy for New Orleans. The Colts, on the other hand, have a couple tough games, including a game against the team that came the closest to defeating them this season, the Houston Texans. I don’t see both teams going 16-0, but if one team can go undefeated, I think it will be the Saints.

1. Watching Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, and Adrian Peterson Run
I don’t think anyone can argue with this one. Chris Johnson breaks off runs faster then Andy Reid devouring his Thanksgiving plate. The man is heading for 2,000 yards, and with Vince Young as the everyday Quarterback, Johnson will be seeing more touches due to the defense having to keep their eye on the speed of Vince. Now MJD is another player who can break a 50 yard run at any moment, and just like Chris Johnson, he plays for an underachieving team. If you want speed, MJD and Johnson are your guys. But if your looking for a mixture of speed and power, take a look at Adrian Peterson. If not for Brett Favre, Peterson could be atop all of the rushing statistics, but even with a newly incorporated passing game, AP still is dominating games. All three of these backs are young, and we all are lucky enough to be able to watch these guys for years to come.
