The 6-4 Philadelphia Eagles take on the 3-7 Washington Redskins tomorrow in what should be an easy win for the Eagles. As most Philadelphia fans know, no win is easy for this Eagles team. Here is why the Eagles will lose:

The Redskins only give up 17.8 points per game, good for 7th in the league. High-priced free agent Albert Haynesworth has nothing to do with that stat, but rookie Brian Orakpo has everything to do with it. Orakpo is a nightmare linebacker for the offensive lines he’s played. With 7 sacks on the year, he is second on the team (to Andre Carter with 8). The Eagles have trouble scoring in the red zone, and have problems sustaining long offensive drives. The offensive line is finally coming together but is still patchwork, so they have to be on the same page to pick up the Redskins’ blitzes.

We are used to seeing Clinton Portis running the ball for the Redskins, but he is out with a concussion. Rock Cartwright will be starting the game this time, and the Eagles don’t like when he runs the ball. The Eagles run defense has done a good job so far this year (10th in the league in run defense), but for some reason the Redskins can run all over us, so that will be a big factor in deciding who will win this game.

Donovan McNabb looked really good in his last two games, and based on the law-of-McNabb-averages (patent pending) he won’t look as good this time around. His receivers will have to help McNabb out and get open on a consistent basis (which never happens). The Eagles need this game to keep themselves in the playoff race and keep the distance between them and the Cowboys close (and the Giants further away [thanks Denver]). The Redskins playoff hopes are alive, but dwindling so they will want to ruin our chances. That is a mix that spells upset so the Eagles have to be careful. Usually this means that we won’t be and will lose.
