The Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers are not the class of the AFC South. The Steelers are second in the South at 6-4 and the Ravens hold the number three spot at 5-5, however at times have seemed better than their record would indicate.
When they match up on Sunday against the Steelers the battle for wildcard position will be at stake. The Steelers lost an embarrassing game to the Kansas City Chiefs in week 11 in which quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a concussion that eliminated him in the game against Baltimore. For the Steelers their quarterback troubles could have not have come at worse time with backup quarterback Charlie Batch also out with a wrist injury. That leaves third string quarterback Dennis Dixon to start and lead the Steelers against a hungry and punishing Ravens’ defense.
The Ravens aren’t in much better shape having lost a close game at home against the Indianapolis Colts in week 11 and will try and avoid going below .500 with a loss to the Steelers. They will be however without starting cornerback Fabian Washington but should have enough depth to overcome and take advantage of a Steelers team without their leader.
This game will be hard hitting and punishing as Dixon is welcomed into the NFL.
8:31 EST: Steelers start with the ball but go 3 and out.
8:40 EST: My PC is acting mean right now.
8:40 EST: Ray Rice carried that entire drive on his back. TD Ravens 7 - Steelers 0
8:43 EST: Cris Collinsworth’s voice is already on my nerves. *Le sigh*
8:43 EST: Hope Dixon’s in shape because he just ran 31 yards for NOTHING! Shame!
8:50 EST: Ravens ball at the 20 yard line. Let’s see what Flacco and Rice will do.
8:52 EST: Well that was quick. Ravens go 3 and out. Dixon back out for the Steelers.
8:53 EST: Willie Parker picks up a 1st down for the Steelers.
8:59 EST: A BEAUTIFUL LASER PASS to Santonio Holmes from Dennis Dixon, who has his first NFL TD for 33 yards. Steelers are in the building 7 - 7.
9:05 EST: My PIC (partner in crime) Michael is over there ordering confetti for Dennis Dixon and the Steelers offense. The Ravens defense had better stand up!
9:16 EST: Dennis Dixon is cool in the pocket. The Ravens sent the house on that 3rd down.
9:20 EST: Steelers offense is going backwards now. But it’s not because of their backup QB.
9:25 EST: Now a hold on Mwelde Moore negating the catch by Holmes from Dixon who had picked up the 1st down. Steelers “veterans” need to step up for this guy.
9:27 EST: Steelers 7 - Ravens 7
9:34 EST: Spectacular catch by Mark Clayton for 54 yards.
9:38 EST: Touchdown Derek Mason. Great catch…terrible celebration Mason. LOL!
9:38 EST: Ravens 14 - Steelers 7
9:44 EST: HALFTIME - RAVENS 14 - STEELERS 7

10:00 EST: Start of second half
10:09 EST: Dixon to Wallace and Wallace can’t bring it in.
10:13 EST: FG by Reed for 44 yards. Steelers 10 - Ravens 14
10:20 EST: Lamar Woodley is beasting right now. That sack celebration was crazy!
10:22 EST: If the Steelers would stop geting in their own way they would have at least 10-14 points on the Ravens by now.
10:24 EST: Hines Ward is a warrior. Those hits he put on Ed Reed were vicious….ow!
10:28 EST: Ravens ball. This game is getting boring in a hurry.
10:29 EST: McClain is injured for the Ravens. Injury timeout called.
10:32 EST: Ray Rice again! 1st down Ravens.
10:48 EST: Flacco sacked and fumbles the ball, recovered by Pittsburgh.
10:57 EST: Dennis Dixon just swallowed the Ravens defense whole. 24 yard TD run to take the lead for the Steelers. Nice!
10:58 EST: What in the world has become of the “vaunted” Ravens defense? It seems to have left with Rex Ryan.
10:08 EST: Ray Rice once again. MVP for this Ravens team. Without him they wouldn’t have an offense.
11:05 EST: ENORMOUS PLAY! The Ravens gambled and won on that play. Huge play on 4th and 10.
11:11 EST: Billy Cundiff is one lucky man he made that kick.
11:15 EST: Tie game Steelers and Ravens at 17. Dixon with the ball for what could be the game winning scoring drive.
Overtime! Without Big Ben and Polamalu, the Steelers could still pull this one out.
They could pull this one out Michael...but honestly I don’t know. That last drive had promise before it stalled. I think it’s your man Dixon’s night tonight.
Looks like the Steelers are handing it to them after those two penalties.
Looks like this one could be going into overtime.
Dixon to lead the game-winning drive here?

Khai-ski, do you think the Ravens are going to pull this one out?
The Collinsworth quote of the night: “there are men playing out there.” Incredible insight.
Just noticed I made the century mark. My new nickname for Dixon is DD2. That’s my dude!!! Go Dennis Dixon!!!
Hey Michael you got your 100th post. And Dixon just got took it in for a TD. WOW! I’m eating those words…
Come on Dixon, pick it up.
Dixon is starting to now look like a 3rd string QB. He had Wallace wide open.
Hey Adrian, yeah I’m about to send you an email right now. Sorry, got busy working on a few things. And yeah guys, I had a feeling that Thanksgiving weekend would be a little slow on the live blogs.
This game has gotten a little slow...that may be the reason it’s a ghost town in here.
Im at work and I got busy for a sec. Hines Ward WRECKED Ed Reed.
Very much so, where is everybody?
Wow it’s quiet in here…
Hey Blake. I just submitted a post for the 25 days of Xmas thing. Can you check it out and hit me up with a message to let me know if that is what you wanted. Thanks
Ravens are getting hammered by penalties on offense and defense.
Yeah, the Ravens and their penalties. I think we’ve live blogged their past five games, so we’ve seen a ton of penalties from them.
Steelers offense, sans Dixon and Holmes, all but ensured that drive wouldn’t go anywhere. Foolish penalties…
Dennis Dixon is looking very good right now. It would look a whole lot better for him if they would just quit with the penalties.
Orton is good for 5 or 6 yard passes all day. Still sucks.
These boys are hitting tonight.
I still hate Orton though, Adrian haha. And had I had a drink tonight while writing the Bears post, I probably would have been calling for them to replace the entire organization from top to bottom.
I sort of expected the Ravens to come out on fire tonight. They haven’t got a whole lot going though.
I’m taking the Ravens...no reason just want to see them get back to winning.
It’s ok, some people may take the bashing thing too far.
