Welcome to day number one of our football/dating combination, as we prepare you for the launch of Mixr Media’s new and innovative dating site, CrazySingleLife. Today’s mission on BlitzNation: to take a look at some of the things that we’ve learned from the dating habits of NFL players.
So needless to say, we’ve got some intriguing lesson that we’ve learned. Let’s get right to it, and give you five things that we’ve learned about dating from NFLers:
1. Stay away from the crazy ones
NFL Example: Shawne Merriman
We’ll use Merriman as our case study here, as it’s the most recent one. But seriously, if we thought that those wild and crazy girls were worth it before the whole Merriman/Tila Tequila mess, then we pulled a complete 180 after that happened. Why? Well let’s see.
Tequila was drunk (I’m sure there’s a pun somewhere in there) and Merriman didn’t want her to drive while intoxicated. So, she then claims Merriman physically put his hands on her, and it’s all gone downhill since that point. She’s filed lawsuits and told everyone that would listen about how he abused her. Ask Merriman today if that little fling was really worth it, and I’m betting he’ll give you an emphatic no.
2. Dating importance > Job importance…..sometimes
NFL Example: Mike Sims-Walker
Ahhh, Mr. Sims-Walker. To him, women are a serious part of his life. And well, who can blame him? The dating scene is always filled with action and intrigue. And when you miss curfew the night before a game because your visit with a female lasted longer than expected, and get suspended for that game, then you’ve really achieved something.
So I suppose that Sims-Walker has taught us a few things here. One, some nights are worth a $40,000 fine. Two, NFL games may not be as exciting as an extended visit with a female companion. And lastly, you don’t even have to worry about your co-workers saying anything, because you will be applauded for your efforts. So thank you Mike Sims-Walker. You’ve taught us well.
3. Don’t underestimate the less popular ones
NFL Example: Tony Romo
Let’s compare. Romo dates Jessica Simpson and those two are seen every other day with their tongue’s down each other’s throat. Romo’s performance on the field: awful. Romo drops Jessica and eventually settles for an equally fine, but less popular Candice Crawford. Romo’s performance on the field: much improved. Moral of the story: with the popular ones comes a whole lot of baggage (and no, that is not a Jessica Simpson weight-gain joke).
Sure, Crawford was Miss Missouri in 2008, and people know her because of her brother Chace Crawford, who appears on the hit TV show Gossip Girl. But she has nowhere near the popularity that Simpson does, which means only one thing. Less paparazzi! So in turn, this has allowed Romo to focus more on football and help the Cowboys in the process.
4. Being Tom Brady will help your game tremendously
NFL Example: Tom Brady
There are three certainties in life. Death, taxes, and Tom Brady dating a smoking hot chick. I mean, seriously. Go to this page right now and check out the Brady dating roster. Now while all of these can’t be confirmed, it wouldn’t surprise me if all of these women on the list have had relations with Brady.
Some people think James Bond is the ultimate ladies man, some people look at George Clooney. Well my friends, I look at Tom Brady as the ultimate chick magnet. Though his dating days may be winding down after his wife Gisele Bundchen gave birth to a baby boy Tuesday night, Brady will always be the kings of kings to me.
5. Some things in dating simply cannot be explained
NFL Example: Kyle Boller
You’ve heard it before. Some guys will say “why is she with that loser?” Well, Boller is in the NFL, so he’s not a loser, but, he probably wouldn’t come to mind if someone asked you for the Top 100 quarterbacks currently in the NFL. Which is why we can’t really explain how he landed Carrie Prejean. But somehow, some way, he did. And he’s shoving it in all of our faces.
Let’s face it. Some couples don’t make a lot of sense. After all, Boller is the backup quarterback for one of the worst teams in the NFL, the St. Louis Rams. Being the quarterback for the Rams would be bad enough. But being the backup, and landing the former Miss California. Well, that takes talent I suppose. So while we can talk about his lack of game as an NFL QB, we can thank him for giving all of the unknowns out there some hope when it comes to landing Miss California.
