The new year will for some franchise’s inevitably bring in a new regime to run the show and the list of team’s likely to be searching for new head coaches this year is right up there with seasons past as the coaching carousel begins to spin. With Hall of Fame resumes lurking in the weeds like Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, John Gruden, and Brian Billick, owners will undoubtedly be infatuated with the thought of making a blockbuster hire this offseason.

The Buffalo Bills already have a vacancy that needs filled and likely to follow are the Washington Redskins with Jim Zorn on his way out, the Cleveland Browns hired Mike Holmgren as their team president and that will likely put the writing on the wall for Eric Mangini, and even the Houston Texans with Gary Kubiak, the Seattle Seahawks Jim Mora, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Raheem Morris, the Chicago Bears Lovie Smith, the Oakland Raiders Tom Cable, and the Carolina Panthers John Fox could see pink slips in the near future.

Obviously all of these potential openings are speculation aside from the Buffalo gig, but this other possible octet of suitors will certainly be tempted to make a run at a high profile name this offseason.
