I admit, using the word HATE is a little strong. I just think the way the NFL does the Pro Bowl is wrong. This year, as we know, the Pro Bowl is being held the weekend before the Super Bowl. Great for ratings, but bad for players. No players from either of the Super Bowl teams will participate, so no Manning, Brees, Wayne, Brackett, you get the idea (sorry to pick Colts and Saints players, but those are my picks so I have to stick to them). Therefore you have to pick alternates, then you have the babies like Tom Brady and Randy Moss who are too injured to play. Too injured? You just played in the playoffs and all 16 games, are you really too injured or are you sore losers who just don’t feel like playing? More alternates. Now we have Matt Schaub, who had a great year, but didn’t get picked for the Pro Bowl. Because of alternates and players not playing, he is considered a Pro Bowl player, even though he didn’t get voted there. The whole system seems wrong.

The question is, what can we do about it? Millions of fans vote every year, and millions more will watch now that the game is on before the Super Bowl. We may just have to accept that it’s a way to make more money, and not an actual All-Star game. The problem I have is the weight this “honor” has in the NFL. When you list a player’s accomplishments, you say “10,000 yards, 100 TDs, a Super Bowl ring, and 5 Pro Bowls.” I really think the way we vote should be changed, and if a player opts not to play (for whatever reason), the new fill-in guys shouldn’t be considered Pro Bowlers.

The main thing I dislike about it is the way it is now played prior to the Super Bowl. Like you said, all of the title-competing players who were voted in now have no chance of playing in it. Word is the Pro-Bowl will be moved back to its original spot some time…I hope it is as soon as possible.

Did you hear about Vince Young and Frank Gore now playing because Brady, Rivers, and Roethlisberger all declined the invite?

well Frank Gore should be playing, he’s one of the best
