There has been a little rumor floating around that if Brett Favre retires this offseason, the Minnesota Vikings will pursue Donovan McNabb. If that is indeed the case, the Vikings should do everything in their power to get Brett to walk.

In my opinion, Donovan McNabb is still good enough to win with the right pieces, and he has not had that in Philadelphia for quite some time. To me, the last time McNabb did have the right pieces was when Terrell Owens was in town. And although that only lasted one season, and it did end on a sour note, it was the only time that McNabb and the Eagles got over the hump and made it to the Super Bowl.

If McNabb went to the Vikings, he may not have anybody on the level of a “2004 Terrell Owens,” but he would have a very talented group of receivers. Between Sidney Rice, who has truly arrived as a young receiver, Percy Harvin, who transitioned extremely well to the NFL, and Bernard Berrian, who could burn defenses with his great speed, McNabb would have tons of formiddable options to throw to. Oh, and let’s not forget Visanthe Shiancoe, who is coming off of an 11 TD season.

And to top it all off, the Vikings have a running back by the name of Adrian Peterson, who is possibly the best blend of size and speed at the running back position in the league; making things even easier for the quarterback.

If you ask me, this is a dream situation for Donovan McNabb. Not only that, but it would be a perfect fit for the Vikings as well. Oh, and did you realize that Brad Childress was the quarterbacks coach in Philadelphia between 1999-2005?

Yeah, this is definitely something that has to happen for Donovan McNabb AND the Minnesota Vikings. It just makes too much sense. Of course, this is assuming that each party wants to be successful next season.
