The Baltimore Ravens have already made it clear that Joe Flacco is there Quarterback, and will be their Quarterback for the future. Most people are pleased with Flacco and his status on the Ravens, except one guy, Troy Smith. Unlike everybody else, he is the guy stuck behind Flacco on the depth chart, and playing time will never come for the athletic QB. So now Smith has made it clear on where he wants to play, the Cleveland Browns.
During the season, Smith requested a trade, but the Ravens organization didn’t even take his words seriously. Now, he is at it again, and wants to play for the Browns. In an interview with Mark Bishop of ESPN Radio’s Cleveland branch, Smith had this to say:
“There is no doubt about it,” Smith said regarding his desire to play for the Browns. “It has always been a childhood dream of mine. It’s funny how we always talk about Cleveland. That’s the first thing that comes to mind with anything I do whether I get a chance to come home and be a part of that organization or not. You know, I would love to get that chance if that opportunity comes up, but the political and right thing to say in this situation is that I would love to be anywhere that would give me a chance. But, without a doubt, there would be no second guessing in my mind if I could come back home and be a part of something that I love.”
The former Ohio State Buckeye has seen limited action throughout his three year career, and has been behind Joe Flacco for the past two seasons. It’s understandable that Smith wants to play somewhere else, but the question remains, “Can he be an effective NFL starting Quarterback”?
