Well ladies and gentlemen, Super Bowl XLIV has come and gone, and in the end, only one team could come out as world champions. And this year, that team was the New Orleans Saints. The Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts tonight by a final score of 31-17, and have their first championship in team history.

Despite trailing 10-0, the Saints found a way to come back and get the job done. The Saints’ defense really stepped things up in the second half, and didn’t allow Peyton Manning to lead the Colts’ offense up and down the field time and time again. The Saints wouldn’t allow it. And without question, the biggest play of the game was Tracy Porter’s interception return for a score, which gave the Saints the 14-point cushion late, and all but wrapped the game up.

On the other side, Drew Brees was phenomenal, and made it all happen with his arm. But everyone played a role for New Orleans, as the Colts’ defense didn’t have much of an answer for this team in the second half. It was an all-around team effort, and one that these players and fans from New Orleans won’t ever forget.

Brees was the Super Bowl MVP, going 32 of 39 for 288 yards and two scores, and the Saints couldn’t have asked for a better performance from their star. All in all, what a great night for the city of New Orleans and a great night for everyone associated with the Saints’ organization.

Congratulations to the Saints on the win!
