We’re only one day removed from Super Bowl XLIV, and we’ve already started looking ahead to next year’s Super Bowl, Super Bowl XLV. Since the New Orleans Saints are your current world champions, shouldn’t they be the early favorites for next season? Not quite.
According to Vegas, this year’s runner-up, the Indianapolis Colts, are the team with the best odds to win it all next year, with the Chargers currently the team with the second-best odds.
The Saints and Patriots follow those two, so it gives us something interesting to look at. This isn’t really all that surprising to me, as most people seemed to pick against the Saints before yesterday’s big game. They’ve certainly gained some respect now, however, and probably don’t care too much about their early odds for next year’s championship. They’ll take this year’s and enjoy that one for a while.
But hey, this is stuff that’s fun to look at. So if the Colts go on to win it all next year, we can say that Vegas had it right one day after this year’s Super Bowl.
