With the Baltimore Ravens‘ recent signing of Anquan Boldin, the Ravens have instantly become one of the top favorites to reach the Super Bowl in the AFC.
The Ravens have all been known for their conservative offense and staunch defense, but as their offense gets younger and their defense gets older, it seems like that may not be the case anymore. Rather, the Baltimore Ravens look like they will present one of the best offenses in the NFL in the upcoming season, while having a very respectable defense. (Of course, a big part of that hinges on the return of Ed Reed, but I fully expect him to be back).
In my opinion, if all things turn out according to plan, the Ravens will have their best combination of offense and defense that they have ever had.
I feel that the offense has improved tremendously with the addition of Boldin and the continued maturation of Joe Flacco. Plus, if Ray Rice builds on last season’s success, this offense should be a force to be reckoned with.
Defensively, this team should still be one of the best because of the knowledge that they possess and the experiences that they have been through together as a unit. Also, there is always the possibility of getting a defensive gem in the draft. But even if that does not happen, I believe that they have enough as it is to hold their own on defense.
Most people believe that one player cannot bring a championship to a team, but in the case of Anquan Boldin coming to Baltimore, he can be the missing piece to the Ravens’ puzzle. He can be the one player who takes his team from playoff team to Super Bowl team. And I bet there are a lot of people out there who feel the same way.
