It’s actually been a pretty good last year or so for Saints’ running back Reggie Bush. He was a key component in the Saints’ Super Bowl victory over the Indianapolis Colts in February, and Bush’s play on the field had gotten much better, which was one of the reasons why the Saints were even in position to win a Super Bowl. But now it looks as though Bush could possibly lose something that’s very valuable to him: his Heisman trophy. Word spread today that the NCAA would unveil its’ findings on the USC program on Friday, and we would then know what type of penalties would be handed down. More »
When we heard the news a few days ago that the NFL had decided to award New York the 2014 Super Bowl, all sorts thoughts started to run through the minds of NFL fans. What if there’s a blizzard, and the Super Bowl has to be delayed? How will the frigid temperatures affect the quality of the game? And so on, and so on. These are legitimate questions to ask since we’re use to seeing the biggest game in American football played in a warm weather city. But now, it sounds like NFL commissioner Roger Goodell might be thinking about more Super Bowls taking place in cold weather cities. More »
Some very surprising news coming out of Seattle this afternoon, as the Seattle Seahawks have officially waived newly acquired running back LenDale White. I’m not sure anyone saw this coming, and if they did, it certainly wasn’t expected to be this quick. More »
The past few years have been pretty interesting if you’re a fan of the Green Bay Packers. You lose the face of your franchise to retirement, un-retirement, the New York Jets, retirement, un-retirement, and your division rival, the Minnesota Vikings. But to some fans, Brett Favre will always be their favorites…..well, maybe until now. More »
With all of the negative press surrounding the world of sports and drugs today, the New Orleans Saints escapade with allegations of Vicodin being taken illegally from their facilities by certain staff members was enough of a black eye for the NFL. There is now another incident to add to the list of illegal possession of a controlled substance as San Diego Chargers second year safety Kevin Ellison was stopped for a routine violation of speeding in a school zone and then his automobile was searched. The officer discovered 100 pills of Vicodin and arrested Ellison for having those drugs in his possession where he was later released on $10,000 bail. More »
As expected on Tuesday at the NFL owners meeting, New York/New Jersey’s bid for the 2014 Super Bowl was approved and the first cold weather city will host the season’s biggest game outdoors in the elements. This issue seemed to be a foregone conclusion with the construction of the new $1.6 billion facility, but there were still some dissenting votes unsure on the logistics of such a large scale event if weather became a factor. New York/New Jersey beat out both Tampa and another South Florida bid for the honor as they each fell by the wayside during the voting process. From travel for the international crowd attending to the fear of the game itself being a bit of a disappointment, there were still some holdouts unwilling to give the idea of a cold weather Super Bowl the green light. In what may be the worst news of the off-season for NFL fans, word came down yesterday that Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has officially gotten rid of the mullet. And you can already guess as to why he’s doing it…..that’s right, for a woman. More »
Okay, stop me when this sounds familiar… the Denver Broncos could be looking to make a move at quarterback… STOP! In what promises to be an interesting saga, there are rumors floating around that Denver is shopping one of the four quarterbacks currently on their roster. The team traded with the Cleveland Browns to acquire Brady Quinn back in March only to turn around and draft former Florida Gators signal caller Tim Tebow in the first round of April’s NFL Draft. Needless to say, Denver’s depth chart under center is getting rather crowded with incumbent starter Kyle Orton and third stringer Tom Brandstater left wondering what is going on. More »
I know it’s not Christmas yet, but I’m asking the Chicago Bears organization for my present early this year. What’s on my wishlist? Several things, but what is most important is what is not on my wishlist. And that would be Terrell Owens. Yes, it looks like the all-me wide receiver may be trying to make his way into Chicago. And the worst news of the NFL off-season has officially arrived. More »
Different year, same offseason story for fans of the Minnesota Vikings or even just diehard Brett Favre devotees that hang on the Mississippi gunslinger’s every word. The word from this past week is that the soon to be 41 year old quarterback has undergone the necessary procedure on his ankle to remove scar tissue and bone spurs according to Favre’s website. Many will remember the severity of the ankle and hamstring injuries sustained by Favre in last year’s postseason and just how purple the two injuries were as seen in these photos. More »
