I’ll be the first to admit it. My rugby knowledge is limited. But if you looked at both American football and rugby on paper, you might find some similarities. So perhaps that is why Australian rugby star Greg Inglis is getting some attention from a few NFL teams, the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos.

Now while the focus of this story should probably be on Inglis himself, unfortunately it can’t be in this situation. Why, you may ask? Because of the two teams mentioned above.

Seriously Bills and Broncos? Have things gotten to the point to where you have to turn to a rugby player to try and make things work in your franchise? Year in and year out, these two teams usually lead the league in the “most questionable decision-making” category. Especially now that Josh McDaniels has taken over at the helm in Denver. He’s already traded away the two best players he had, and now he’s going after a rugby player?

I’m not saying that Inglis couldn’t make it in the league, because rugby is a very tough sport and his physical build is similar to that of an NFL player. The guy might actually be successful with a year or so experience under his belt in the league. If you YouTube the guy, you’ll find some pretty impressive abilities. This sums it up pretty well:

I don’t really see him deciding to take this route, but I suppose he could at some point. What bothers me most deals more with the teams that are interested than Inglis himself. There are better options out there for the Bills and Broncos right now, although Inglis could be a guy with potential if he ever chooses to take the NFL path.

But I guess at this point, these two teams are trying to find any type of edge possible. Because it’s obvious whatever they’re doing right now isn’t working.
