In what has started to become a regular thing for him, Redskins’ defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is once again the center of attention in Washington, with rumors still flying that he could be traded in the near future. If the Redskins want to get any value out of this trade, they better do it now. Because the longer they wait, the more his value goes down. It’s as simple as that.
Haynesworth is the one that started all of this mess a while back when he complained about his role in the defense last year during the season, and is pretty much doing the same this off-season, even with a new coordinator in Jim Haslett moving into the position. Remember a few years ago when Haynesworth was easily considered the most dominant defensive player in the league? So what happened?
Oh, that’s right. He got paid. And he hasn’t been the same ever since.
So perhaps the Tennessee Titans‘ organization was right in their move to not give him that huge check, because they feared his production would seriously decrease. But Dan Snyder had no problem doing that, and he’s feeling the ramifications for it right now.
It’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out, but at this moment, I don’t see why the Redskins aren’t doing everything possible to deal this guy. That would mean that they were wrong in bringing him in though, and we all know that NFL front office guys don’t like to admit that they were wrong on a deal.
But they better do something, because this situation isn’t getting better any time soon.
