It’s only been about a month since Josh McDaniels and the Denver Broncos made a somewhat surprising move by drafting Tim Tebow late in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. But guess what? Tebow is already moving up the depth chart in Denver, as the Broncos released third-string QB Tom Brandstater, which now puts Tebow in that third spot.

Of course, it’s way too early to tell whether or not the Tebow experiment will work in Denver, but it sounds like Tebow is making some progress in these camps thus far. I hope he does well, and eventually turns out to be a solid player in the league, as everyone has pretty much doubted his chances up to this point. I’d hate to admit that McDaniels was right about something, since I’ve questioned his decisions to trade both Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall, but in this case, I’ll root for it for Tebow.

I know that a lot of people have been critical of all the hype that Tebow had in college, but in my opinion, it was well-deserved. We’ve never seen an athlete quite like Tebow come through, and it would be an understatement to say that he’s been a breath of fresh air. In a league that is becoming more and more known for bad incidents off the field, it’s nice to have a guy like Tebow in the NFL, who we know isn’t going to go out and find himself arrested on a monthly basis.

The Broncos have already made it clear that this is a long-term project, so they’ll give him the time to progress. Hopefully Tebow continues to move up the depth chart in Denver, and maybe eventually challenges for the starting spot in a year or two.
