We all remember back last year when Braylon Edwards was a member of the Cleveland Browns, and was dropping pretty much every pass that came his way. Then he decided to go out and get into a little nightclub dispute…..with a man who happened to be a friend of LeBron James. So of course, Edwards was traded a few days later, and is now a member of the New York Jets. He’s catching some passes too.
As for that little incident in Cleveland, Edwards will not be suspended by the league, which is certainly good for him. He actually hasn’t been all that bad on the field for the Jets, as we all know that they made an appearance in the AFC Championship game last season.
So it seems like Edwards’ has rebounded from the struggles he was having in Cleveland towards the end of his tenure there. He’s going to be an important piece of the puzzle again this upcoming season, as Mark Sanchez will be looking to him quite a bit in the passing game. He’s also got some help on the outside now with the addition of Santonio Holmes, but Holmes is suspended for the first four games of the season, so Edwards’ production will have to be even larger in the first few weeks of the season.
Edwards has always been picked on for having a case of the drops at times, but after the nice finish to last season, perhaps he can carry some of that momentum into this season, and have a great year for the Jets. He’ll still always drop a few that he should catch, but we’ve learned to expect that with him. He’s going to have to the main guy at the receiver position, so he certainly has to limit those drops this year.
Luckily for the Jets, they don’t have to add Edwards’ name to the “suspension” list alongside Holmes. I’d say Sanchez is pretty happy about that one.

I, for one, am glad to see him go from the Browns. But I also knew that he would be productive anywhere he went. That is how it goes for the Browns. Always has, and probably, always will…
