Alright, Cleveland Browns fans. Here we are starting out the season with a loss in the opener, AGAIN! Does this mean the season is over? Not by a long shot. Let me tell you why…

Even though the Browns came away with the “L” on Sunday there were a lot of hopeful points of interest. Sure, the Browns were back at it with beating themselves. Clearly they were the better team on the field but you cannot give up the ball more then you take and expect to win.

First, Jake Delhomme looks to be forcing things a little too much. Like he is trying to prove he can play. He had a few passes that he was lucky weren’t picked off, against a better secondary they may have been. I think that he will settle down in week 2 or 3 and be the QB that Brown’s fans were hoping to have.

Second, the running game was there. Although, Peyton Hillis gave up the ball, that can be coached out of him, perhaps. Jerome Harrison looked strong, but we all would have liked to see more production out of him.

Third, the defense can stop the ball. The Browns are definitely doing something right. It’s not the defenses fault that the other team was given the ball inside their 5 yard line. T.J. Ward and Joe Haden already look like verteran defensive backs. Both had key tackles/pass breakups. With the addition of Sheldon Brown make our secondary clutch. Not to mention the main concern being the D-Line and between them and the linebackers they were able to get 3 sacks, not great but better then last year.

Forth, the wildcat, cyclone and flash offensive packages. These work. WAS THAT JOSH CRIBBS THROWING THE BALL? AND TO WHO?! SENECA WALLACE? AWESOME!!! We need more of this. But do it with Delhomme on the field. Might create more confusion…Just sayin’.

Overall, I was dissappointed in the loss seeing as there was no scoring in the second half and with all the turnovers. But half the teams have to lose week one, not shocking that the Browns were one of them. I do see promise and look forward to next week.
