Alright, Cleveland Browns fans. Here we are starting out the season with a loss in the opener, AGAIN! Does this mean the season is over? Not by a long shot. Let me tell you why… More »

Contract holdouts have been the talk of the league this offseason and the epidemic doesn’t appear to be coming to an end any time soon. New York Jets all-world cornerback Darrelle Revis is the latest to become a member of the group disgruntled with their current contractual situations and he has been a no show to this point from Jets training camp. Revis’ camp reportedly submitted a proposed contract to the Jets front office and it was quickly rejected by team management. Would you like to know why? More »

Remember back to Brian Cushing’s positive test for a banned substance on the NFL’s list of masking agents? Well the Houston Texans Rookie of the Year award recipient now has a new rebuttal for his positive test; overtraining. No, seriously. He claims that his overexertion caused the test to pop up positive for a fertility drug commonly used to mask the effects of performance enhancing drugs in the NFL’s testing regimen. More »

In what can only be described as one of the most disappointingly apathetic stories in recent NFL memory, Washington Redskins multi-millionaire defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth cannot pass a mandatory conditioning test to begin practicing with the team. Haynesworth attempted the test on both Thursday and Friday, but failed to complete it in the allotted time allowed by the team. After complaining of knee pain and swollenness in that same left knee, the big defensive tackle has been watching from the sidelines for the past three days now as his teammates all take part in drills. Terrell Owens has yet to find an NFL team willing to take on his baggage, but talks are beginning to heat up from a number of different cities. After spending last year in purgatory, errr, with the Buffalo Bills, Owens is seeking a contender while trying to add that final elusive piece to his Hall of Fame worthy resume; a Super Bowl ring. A wide variety of teams have been linked to Owens this offseason and it will be easier to simply breakdown each of them individually to determine which has a higher likelihood of coming to fruition. Hold the presses; it appears that there actually IS some money out there that NFL teams are willing to spend this offseason. After weeks of pondering whether any contracts were going to be signed at all amongst first round picks and veterans looking to be compensated according to their production, three relatively high profile deals were struck on Thursday by teams around the league. Ed Reed kicked around the “R” word after last season’s abrupt and disappointing conclusion and some thought he was just reacting negatively after a difficult loss. Now that it has become clear that Reed is having difficulties getting himself physically ready for the 2010 season, the though of retirement has to be even more resonant in his mind. As arguably one of the league’s most complete safeties, Reed has been a fixture with the Baltimore Ravens back seven since 2002 and received several accolades as a result. More »

It’s that time of year again. No, not the time when pads start smashing together or play action fakes are pulled off with seamless ease, but the time when contract holdouts become more of a conversation point than the actual action on the field. Teams will be anxiously trying to ink their first round draft choices to multi-million dollar contracts with training camps looming around the league even though none of them have played a single snap in the NFL. Until a rookie wage scale is put into effect via a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) however, teams will just have to bite the bullet and hand the cash over willingly. More »

The experiment with the Buffalo Bills last season did very little for Terrell Owens’ value in the minds of general managers around the league and that has to be a concern for the free agent wide receiver. Owens is much closer to the age of 40 than 30 these days and that fact also has to be hurting his chances of landing a gig in the NFL in the upcoming season. Still it is semi mind-boggling how a player with the cornucopia of statistics that Owens has accumulated during his decade plus in the league is still standing in the NFL’s unemployment line. The always flamboyant receiver isn’t taking this lying down however as he has gone on record with some rather persuasive accusations about just why he hasn’t landed a gig yet. More »

Okay, the dust has settled, the circus is over, and as it turns out I still had a standing building to go to work in downtown Cleveland a day after, what some may consider the worst or second worst day in Cleveland sports. (the worst being when the Browns left) More »
