Following last night’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts, Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens said that he is 50-50 on returning to the NFL for another season. Reed, who has suffered from a serious neck injury for the past few seasons, has been one of the premiere safeties in all of football over the span of his career, and he has been a key part of the vaunted Ravens defense. The Baltimore Ravens had a disappointing season considering that they were in the AFC Conference Championship just last year. If not for a Week 17 win over the Oakland Raiders, the Raven’s wouldn’t even have qualified for the postseason. According to Bill Polian, the President of the Indianapolis Colts, Ray Rice reminds him of a faster version of Emmitt Smith. With the Ravens being the Colts’ opponent in the divisional round of the playoffs, Polian is sure sending the opposing running back a pretty big compliment. Whether or not Polian has an ulterior motive is yet to be determined. But just for the fact that he could mention Rice in the same breath as the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, it speaks volumes of how much Rice has meant to this Baltimore Ravens squad this season. So the Patriots and Ravens will meet again for another match up and this time it’s in the playoffs. These two teams have had their share of controversial games and have established quite a rivalry heading into Sunday’s game. The Ravens have on a number of occasions been one or two plays short of beating the Patriots over the past 2 years. I believe this game will be another tough hard fought match up and the Ravens have just as much if not a better shot of beating a Patriots team that is no longer who they used to be. More »
