After getting rid of a nasty little playoff win-less streak last week, the Dallas Cowboys look to make their way back to the NFC Title game. But first, the Minnesota Vikings stand in their way, and prevent some very interesting challenges for this Cowboys’ team. More »
A special ranking system was revealed yesterday to show the NFL’s most healthy and least healthy teams from the 2009 season. While the Dallas Cowboys finished atop the list with none of their players landing on IR, the Bills finished at the very bottom. Check out the entire ranking list here: (G/L = Game starters missed. Believe it or not, the NFL Draft is only a few months away. Last year, the Eagles surprised many with their 1st-round selection of Jeremy Maclin, but also received praise for their late-round picks of depth. Already, it has become clear that the young players drafted by Philadelphia are blossoming into stars (i.e. Maclin, LeSean McCoy), while some others have their respective levels of potential waiting to be fulfilled. Obviously the Draft is always a highlight of the offseason, for it provides the league and it’s 32 franchises with a breath of fresh air, bringing in a wave of new talents and future studs (as well as major busts). In this brief peek at the 2010 version of the Draft, we will take a look at some of the top prospects coming out of college, a few of the players the Eagles may be interested in selecting, as well as a historical examination of the Birds’ previous Drafts… More »
Welcome everyone to day two of our New Year’s Resolution Special! Yesterday, we talked about resolutions for the teams from the AFC. Today, we focus on the teams from the NFC, and let you know what we think should be their hopes for 2010. So without any further ado, let’s get started! More »
Wild Card Saturday is here, and it’s a familiar setting, as the two games today were seen last week as well. But this week, it’s different. Completely different. The Dallas Cowboys are looking for their first playoff win in a long, long time, and they’ll have to get through the Philadelphia Eagles for that to happen. It’s going to be no easy task. More »
The Eagles are here again. The playoffs. Dallas. Questioning McNabb’s leadership. Whatever you call it, the Eagles have been there. The gameplan last week against the Cowboys didn’t work, plain and simple, this week we have to emulate how the Cowboys beat us. McNabb isn’t going to have a lot of time back there so he must get rid of the ball quickly. Taking another 4 sacks will mean an early exit from the 2009 playoffs. This is your year McNabb, Super Bowl or bust (or you may not be here next year). More »
If anyone has an inside take on the NFL, it’s Adam Caplan. The host of the Sirius Satellite Radio channel’s football program is also employed as a national reporter, as well as an editor on the Fantasy Guru website. He is also a frequent updater of the website Scout.com, and occasionally makes guest appearances with the Philadelphia Eagles’ media. The Birds are on the verge of beginning their playoff hunt this evening, and we decided to dish you some special information and thoughts regarding the game. I was fortunate enough to speak with Mr. Caplan (pictured) and compile a brief pre-game interview with the senior reporter, and it includes his personal prediction of the outcome of the contest (some of you may not agree). So, without further ado, here is a quick inside take on the Eagles-Cowboys playoff game in a 1 on 1 session with Adam Caplan: More »
Wild Card Saturday is here! That means that it’s time for our weekly predictions. So let’s get right to it, as our panel will let you know what to expect in today’s game:
New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals
Blake Lovell - “Rex Ryan can brag about the Jets’ rushing attack, and the Jets defense, but the Bengals are a team on a mission. After getting embarrassed last week, the Bengals will find some offensive consistency, and will find a way to move on.” Bengals 24-17
Adrian Estrada - “The last time these two played one might think one team might not have been playing as hard as the other. Look for the tide to turn and the Bengals to open it up a bit more. The Jets Defense is #1 in the league. Rookie QB Mark Sanchez will need to have his best game of the season in order for the Jets to pull this one out on the road. If the Dhani Jones and Rey Maulaluga step up their run support and force the Jets to throw the Bengals will win.” Bengals 21-17
Ben Zubak - Jets 17-14
Lee Tawil - “Following a 37-0 thrashing courtesy of the Jets, the Bengals have the fortune of hosting Gang Green this weekend in the Wild Card round of the playoffs. Defensively, I think the edge goes to the Jets, whereas at quarterback, the edge easily goes to the Bengals. The deciding factor, for me, in this game is going to be Cedric Benson’s ability to run on the Jets’ defense. He did not play last weekend, and it was obvious that Cincy struggled without him. If he totes the rock 25+ times, I expect a Bengals win.” Bengals 21-13
Anthony Blake - “In spite of the lackluster effort fielded by the Bengals in New York a week ago, a change of venue and Cedric Benson out on the field should be enough. The playoff pressure gets to the rookie quarterback/head coach combo of Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez.” Bengals 27-17
Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Blake Lovell - “Before last week, I thought the Eagles were the favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Now, I’m totally off their bandwagon. Not just because of their play, but because of who they’re playing. The Cowboys look like the complete team right now, and I can’t see Philly haven’t much luck this week against them.” Cowboys 27-24
Adrian Estrada - “A repeat of week 17 but not a repeat outcome. The Cowboys have been on fire but right around this time is when Tony Romo gives games away. If he tries to take this game over he will fail and so will the broncos. Look for DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin to get into holes in the Dallas D and exploit it with their run-after-the-catch abilities. If the Eagles can pull out a red zone stop or two it will be enough.” Eagles 27-21
Ben Zubak - Eagles 27-17
Lee Tawil - “Round 3 between the Eagles and Cowboys will be a huge game for Tony Romo. Because the Cowboys have won the previous two meetings in this series, the pressure will be on Romo and the rest of the team to not blow it in the third game. Based on the way Romo finished up the regular season, without his perennial collapse, I think he has finally grown up and is ready to lead this team on a deep playoff run. Plus, with this defense becoming one of the best in the league, the Cowboys have all the tools they need to beat Philly in this one.” Cowboys 24-14
Anthony Blake - “Even though Dallas has beaten Philly twice this year, NFL veterans are always adamant that beating a team three times in one year is next to impossible. The Cowboys can’t bottle up DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin again, can they?” Eagles 28-24
Ok football fans, your turn! Who wins today’s games?
We’re here. The regular season zoomed by, and we now find ourselves in the playoffs. The playoffs, yes. It is no longer a time for losing, mistakes, and costly decisions. Now, a single defeat will send a team home for the long offseason, rather than home temporarily to prepare for the next week. A win, however, keeps every single player on a team’s roster giddy and motivated towards the one goal they are all striving to meet: reaching and winning in the Super Bowl. While the Eagles (11-5 in regular season play) are coming off their first loss in 7 weeks, and which also happened to be an embarrassing shutout loss that left the fan base disappointed, they believe they have the talent and determination to play Dallas and prove that the “third time’s a charm”. After falling to the division rival Cowboys twice this year and squandering an opportunity to earn a first-round bye in the playoffs, the Birds claim they’re ready to return to their winning form and capture what would be a delighted postseason victory. Set to square off tomorrow evening, the Eagles and Cowboys are sure to put on a thrilling performance that will have you on the edge of your seat all night long! More »
Yesterday, a relatively large news story was made in editor Dave Spadaro did in mockery of the Dallas Cowboys. Perhaps the entire ordeal was blown out of proportion, but the incident involving Spadaro–who is commonly referred to as “Spuds” on the Eagles’ official website–is quite intriguing. Apparently the media specialist was recording a live episode of one of his “SpudsCam” segments for the site, and was briefly talking while on the field of the new Cowboys Stadium in Texas. After discussing how nice the complex is for a few moments, Spadaro (pictured, right)–who is not shown–then spits twice onto the blue star located in the center of the turf field, disgracing the Dallas logo and mocking the rival Cowboys.
The team ordered Spadaro to issue an apology to the Dallas franchise, and he did so accordingly early today. All in all, the act was certainly not “classy”, but it was all in good fun, as the Eagles website editor said himself. He did it only to display what has long been a en enjoyable hate within a football rivalry. More »
