We know some players who have been having some fun this week. With a few days to go before the 2009 season officially comes to a close with the Super Bowl, DeSean Jackson, Eli Manning, and more NFL stars have been out and about, doing seemingly everything possible in Miami, the site of the league’s final game. Why are they there, you ask? If you remember, some of them were participants in last weekend’s Pro-Bowl, but that’s been over; Jackson and co. has been at work in a very different place as of late. The explosive players were involved in some of the Gatorade company’s athletic performance tests within the Gatorade Performance Lab so that he can promote not only himself, but the sports drink corporation, and the overall hype at the media gatherings for Super Bowl XLIV. Other football players, including Cowboys’ WR Miles Austin, also took part in the tests with Jackson. More »

Over the years, there have been 43 Super Bowls. Some of them have been blowouts, and some of them have been nail-biters. In those nail-biters, there is usually that one play that you can point to and say, “that was the game-changer!” With that being said, I thought it would be interesting to go through some of the top game-changing plays in Super Bowl history. Here are my top 5: More »

Unlike franchise quarterbacks such as Joe Montana and more recently Brett Favre, it would be difficult to picture Indianapolis Colts elite signal caller Peyton Manning ever putting on a different colored jersey. According to many sources around the Super Bowl, the potential of that ever taking place is to be put out of the realm of possibility after the season concludes as the two sides will sit down and negotiate an extension for Manning’s contract. The NFL is home to two Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli. Unfortunately, one of the Manning brothers had to sit at home while the NFL playoffs were progressing. Eli Manning is the brother on the outside of the playoff picture, which means that Peyton is the last chance for the Manning family. In order for the Manning family to once again hoist the Lombardi trophy, Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts will have to win their next, and final game against the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. Even though Eli is not in the Super Bowl, there is still a “Manning Bowl” occuring. More »

We can only hope THIS Brandon Jacobs comes to play tonight in Washington. Somehow I doubt it though.

This is a huge game for the New York Giants tonight. They have an opportunity to continue on with their playoff hopes if they pull out this divisional win against the Washington Redskins. More »

If you want to know what New York Giants football looks like; the performance they put on against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday is what fans have been asking for since week 5. It’s never easily won or outdone, it’s always hard fought and down to the wire and in the end the Giants are usually the last players standing. The New York Giants have had a tumultuous season, even the most dedicated fans have been sent to their breaking point. They never get it easy it seems, and find the most difficult road to travel before arriving at their breakthrough. And while this is ONLY ONE GAME for all of those fans out there buying tickets to Miami…slow your roll, there was something about this game that spoke volumes. More »

I’m not going to front. I fully expect the Dallas Cowboys to come into the Meadowlands and crush the New York Giants. I believe them to better than the Denver Broncos and from what I witnessed on Thanksgiving, I expect much of the same. More »

The New York Giants and their season is in grave danger. The season is all but over and they seem incapable of pulling it together playing flat out terribly. Making matters worse they’ve lost the heart, soul and emotional leader of this defense after middle linebacker Antonio Pierce was placed on injured reserve this week after being diagnosed with a bulging disk in his neck. The one inconsistent unit on this team has been its defense, so losing Pierce may prove to be detrimental in the long run. Quarterback Eli Manning and the offense have had their moments and quite frank Manning has played well so far. The problem for the Giants don’t end with personnel and injuries however, it’s been overwhelmingly the coaching. Defensive and offensive coordinators Bill Sheridan and Kevin Gilbride are suffocating the talent on this team. Gilbride doesn’t seem to have an understanding of his players, calling plays that don’t highlight their strengths. And Sheridan has a defense that formally worked effortlessly in dominating opposing offenses but now teams drive up and down the field on as if they’re a totally different unit. Bottom line, trouble! If there’s one thing I’ve come to know as a New York Giants fan, it’s that this team will downplay an injury until the last possible moment and then blind side you with a “shocking” new development. More »
