There are still some names on the free agent market, but none of those will garner the attention of St. Louis Rams safety O.J. Atogwe. It was made official that St. Louis decided not to re-tender him at the pricey $6.976 million that would have been required for such a move to ensure them of his presence on their roster in 2010. The Rams centerfielder on defense had his 2009 season shortened by a shoulder injury that ultimately landed him on injured reserve and he also had hernia surgery this offseason. Those potential injury concerns will have to be thoroughly examined by any teams looking into inking him now that he is on the open market. More »
Most folks dream of taking vacations in February to escape the cold and go to warm destinations like Florida or Arizona. Planning the most globally attractive championship game in the world at a venue that doesn’t fulfill those characteristics seems like a questionable decision, but the NFL seems poised to make that choice. At an owner’s meeting on Tuesday in Dallas, the dollars and cents (certainly not sense) behind the NFL scenes will assemble and discuss the possibility of having a Super Bowl in the New York metropolitan area at the new Meadowlands currently under construction. After a relatively quiet off-season since the Super Bowl, the Dallas Cowboys made a big splash in the first round of the NFL Draft, when they traded up 3 spots to nab wide receiver Dez Bryant. More »
When the clock strikes midnight tonight, the NFL’s much anticipated free agency period will begin without a salary cap for the first time since a cap was implemented in 1994. This uncharted territory for the league has some a bit uneasy as to what to expect from teams this offseason. Obviously there will still be some big spenders as always from Daniel Snyder ’s big fat bankroll with the Washington Redskins to his divisional rival with the Dallas Cowboys in Jerry Jones. Perhaps the most pressing question is not which team will spend the most, but which will spend the least. More »
It’s report card day here on BlitzNation, and the Dallas Cowboys are coming off of what is probably their most impressive victory of the season, as they knocked off the Atlanta Falcons 37-21 on Sunday.
So good grades are bound to be all over the place this week, so let’s get right to it. More »
If you’re a Cowboys fan, and you wanted Wade Phillips fired sometime this season, well you can stop worrying about that. Because it isn’t going to happen. At least that’s what owner Jerry Jones said during his weekly radio interview. According to Jones, Phillips’ job is safe for the rest of the season. More »
Congratulations, Jerry Jones. Thanks to a guy named Miles Austin, you don’t have to call Wade Phillips into your office tonight and officially give him the pink slip. So Austin better get a few extra pieces of fruit in the Christmas basket this year. More »
Alright Cowboy fans, we’re one day away from a showdown with the win-less Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. You never really feel comfortable when you play a team that has yet to win a game, because you always think that this game could be the game that they turn it around.
Let’s hope that doesn’t happen here. Anyways, on to the preview! More »

Who’s to blame for the offensive slump the Dallas Cowboys are in at the moment? While the defense is playing great “most” of the game the passing game is awful at best the last two games. Most of the office chatter consisted of stuff like “You guys need a new quarterback” to “Tony Romo at his best” and back to “Time to replace Romo”. I had to defend my boy Tony Romo all week and will continue to do so until the play calling changes. The Dallas Cowboys need to decide what type of quarterback they want Romo to be. Do they want a gunslinger that can use his athletic ability to make key plays at critical times? Do they want a game manager that can hand the ball off and hit a 6-7 yard pass on every third down like the old Trent Dilfer? MAKE UP YOUR MIND JERRY JONES! More »
There’s a reason why we have a picture of Cowboy great Tony Dorsett above. That’s because he caused quite a stir this week with his comments on quarterback Tony Romo, and his place among the league’s best QB’s.
Dorsett wasn’t the only one with some interesting comments this week, so let’s get right to the quotes of the week. More »
