As we approach Week 13 of the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2009 season, another bit of injury news has surfaced. It’s been made quite clear over the past few days that both the Eagles and their opponent, the Atlanta Falcons, have multiple players hurting, and for the red birds, it appears they will be one more player short when they play later today. It was previously known that the Falcons’ RB Michael Turner was “iffy” with pain in his ankle, but it is being reported by several league sources that the runner is now almost definitely going to be missing from Atlanta’s lineup this afternoon. Turner re-aggravated a sprain in his lower leg last week against the Buccaneers, and was tending to soreness in the injured ankle throughout the week in practice. More »
Chris Redman is not to be underestimated. There I wrote it. I never thought I would write that first sentence but there it is. When I heard that both Matt Ryan and Michael Turner would not play for the Falcons game against the Birds from Philly, I went bananas, I was so happy and said (to no one in particular) “Easy win for the Eagles, playoffs here we come!” and did a Tiger Woods-like fist pump. Then I watched the highlights of the Falcons win over the Bucs last week and suddenly wasn’t as happy. Chris Redman led the team down the field and scored the go-ahead touchdown. Are you kidding me?! Then I remembered how much trouble the Redskins gave us this past weekend, and I was even more depressed. More »
We can thank the Atlanta Falcons a little bit as we progress towards Week 13 of the 2009 season. Of course, it’s never very respectable to be happy upon someone’s injuries, but as of now, the Eagles’ upcoming opponent is likely to keep out several of their key players because of pain they’re experiencing. Their starting QB Matt Ryan (pictured) is tending to stiffness and soreness in one of his toes–and head coach Mike Smith has already ruled him out of this Sunday’s action. In addition to Ryan’s expected absence, Michael Turner, the Falcons’ leading Running Back who has 864 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns, is having trouble keeping his sprained ankle in good condition, and is unsure of whether he will be able to play versus the Eagles. Its halfway through the season and I’m going to break down my picks for the top five running backs in the league. This going to be based on all aspects of being a running back, not just yards or just touchdowns, but rather a compilation of everything. More »
It’s report card day here on BlitzNation, and the Dallas Cowboys are coming off of what is probably their most impressive victory of the season, as they knocked off the Atlanta Falcons 37-21 on Sunday.
So good grades are bound to be all over the place this week, so let’s get right to it. More »
When I wrote my Falcons at Cowboys preview, I’m pretty sure I put in there somewhere that we simply couldn’t expect Miles Austin to catch a lot of balls and have an incredible game every single time the Cowboys take the field. Well, I was obviously wrong. Austin got it done again today, racking up 171 receiving yards on just six catches and two scores, as Dallas knocked off Atlanta 37-21.
Let’s look back at today’s game: More »
Chicago fans, it’s report card day here on BlitzNation, and after the Bears’ difficult loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday night, the grades will vary quite a bit. And I’ll go ahead and tell you right now, I’m not holding anything back this time around. Why? Because I was in Atlanta for this one, and was certainly disappointed with the outcome.
With that being said, let’s jump to the report card. More »
Matt Ryan, coming off of his 2008 Rookie of the Year honors, has looked sharp thus far, and has grown comfortable with Tight End Tony Gonzalez. The gameplan for tonight’s game will most likely be to pound the rock early, and then open the playbook up for Matt Ryan later on. Running Back Michael Turner has not played well this season, at least not as well as he did last season, but if he can carry the ball for positive yards tonight and continue moving the chains, the offense for Atlanta should be unstoppable. Week six in the NFL is upon us Bears’ fans, and with that comes a huge Sunday night showdown in Atlanta against the Falcons. The Falcons are a great home team, and the last quarterback to lead a team that beat them at home was Jay Cutler.
Sounds like a recipe for success to me, so let’s get right to the preview! More »
