Hold the presses; it appears that there actually IS some money out there that NFL teams are willing to spend this offseason. After weeks of pondering whether any contracts were going to be signed at all amongst first round picks and veterans looking to be compensated according to their production, three relatively high profile deals were struck on Thursday by teams around the league. It’s that time of year again. No, not the time when pads start smashing together or play action fakes are pulled off with seamless ease, but the time when contract holdouts become more of a conversation point than the actual action on the field. Teams will be anxiously trying to ink their first round draft choices to multi-million dollar contracts with training camps looming around the league even though none of them have played a single snap in the NFL. Until a rookie wage scale is put into effect via a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) however, teams will just have to bite the bullet and hand the cash over willingly. More »

The St. Louis Rams are officially on the clock and deciding what to do with the first overall pick could make or break your career. Luckily, the Rams have plenty of experience with this because this is the third time they are picking either #1 or #2. The old saying is that new regimes mean new quarterbacks. That is more true than ever in today’s passing NFL. Ten quarterbacks threw for over 4,000 yards last season, ten! That’s more than half a conference! Saying that, Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy are far and away the best NFL prospects this year. In addition to the Skins current woes, most fans are familiar with owner Daniel Snyder’s propensity for throwing money at the problem via free agency and big name coaches. Although the coach is now in place with Mike Shanahan’s reign set to begin, his general manager Bruce Allen is not one for making a big splash in free agency. This could finally be the beginning of the upturn for the Skins and their devoted followers. More »

Believe it or not, the NFL Draft is only a few months away. Last year, the Eagles surprised many with their 1st-round selection of Jeremy Maclin, but also received praise for their late-round picks of depth. Already, it has become clear that the young players drafted by Philadelphia are blossoming into stars (i.e. Maclin, LeSean McCoy), while some others have their respective levels of potential waiting to be fulfilled. Obviously the Draft is always a highlight of the offseason, for it provides the league and it’s 32 franchises with a breath of fresh air, bringing in a wave of new talents and future studs (as well as major busts). In this brief peek at the 2010 version of the Draft, we will take a look at some of the top prospects coming out of college, a few of the players the Eagles may be interested in selecting, as well as a historical examination of the Birds’ previous Drafts… More »
